Eight months!

Today marks my eight months with godpa. He decided to "decorate" my blog with colourful pictures of food. Not very original but it's something of a common interest between us.

Godpa's getting adventurous again and will add asparagus to my diet though I'm not sure if it tastes better than sweet peas. Capsicums look nice but they taste weird to me.

While in town, godpa tried this nice pasta from the basement foodcourt of Orchard Cineleisure. It's his second time patronising them and he says the pasta is always well prepared and comes in a substantial portion. I've only taken rice, can I try pasta?

I got into my cute cuddly princess pose for this photo. It contrasts with my warrior princess attitude at the dogrun the other day doesn't it.

Making friends

It was a pleasant afternoon at the Bishan Park Dog Run yesterday.

Step 1: Trust no dog. Stay close to godpa and other humans. I'm a princess, let them come to me.

Step 2: Unsure. I'm not sure, they seem harmless, especially that boy wearing a harness. He seems genuinely interested to play.

Step 3: Warming up. Alright, I'll just let loose a bit since he's such a respectful boy. Hope he doesn't mind my temper.

Step 4: Confidence. Here I go romping around away from godpa. It's much more fun zooming around with dog friends.

Handsome Bolt

While godpa is reading his comics about Superman, Batman, and the Fantastic Four, I have recently found a handsome comic book hero of my own. His name is Bolt. Even godpa finds his videos cool. Looks like Christmas is going to be exciting with all the dog and animal movies.

忘忧草

Godpa's work is kind of unique, it's a balance of indoor and outdoor work. He tells me it's neither easy nor stressful, sometimes he just listens and at other times he asks a lot of questions. I'm pretty good at listening too.
His work brings him to corners of Singapore that he wouldn't likely visit on his own. Today he happened to be around Eunos Crescent so he had lunch there. Again, his meals are much more colourful than mine.

It's rather picturesque if one paused to look. He enjoyed the food and the laid back feel of an old estate. It's also a very cat friendly place coz godpa saw many street cats lazing and loitering about. Well, some dogs are more privileged, we laze around in the cool comfort of human homes and gnaw on bones.
I hope all dogs (and humans too), find a "good place" to be in even though the world is full of worries, stress, and strife.

Patience with food

I am very patient when it comes to food. This is how I look when godpa and family have their dinner. Sometimes I try to put up a show like pulling my play towel over and tossing it about to act cute. Mostly they ignore my antics.

I've not had brown rice for a long time since my days staying with Bear and Bruno. It sure looks delightful what godpa had for lunch today: brown rice with vegetarian curry, pumpkin, and bitter gouard. I don't mind taking scraps from the tail end of that meal.

Speaking of which, there's this fascination with my tail end at various angles. Perhaps it's rather inviting when I wag it rhythmically. However I think my eyes are much more alluring, and makes for a more photogenic picture (not forgetting it's less of an embarassment).

It's been rare to get sunshine so godpa takes opportunities to bring me for walkies whenever he can. Weather's also gradually swinging between hot and cold so I've been reminding godpa to watch his health.

Besides hot weather, there's been some heated talk about proposed special rules for rottweilers and their owners because of some bad biting incidents in the past. The new rules will require the humans to buy insurance, put up a deposit, and send the dog for obedience class. I wonder what might happen next? I can imagine the maid will bring the dog to obedience class, insurance agents will have new products to sell, and perhaps there'd be a COE bidding system for dog licenses. Will it affect Bear and Bruno? Will they be "retrenched" just like bank workers because of rising costs? I better go save up my treats and toys for a rainy day.

Do you love toys?

I've quite a few toys now, let me count starting from the most favoured one: 1 Nylabone chew toy, 1 squeeky soft toy, 1 rope toy, 1 Chompion chew toy and 1 Kong treat-dispenser. Godpa rotates the toys so that I won't get bored and it also helps to lengthen their life span under my small but destructive jaws.

Godpa noticed the holiday season brings in new movies, especially those about dogs. There's the Beverly Hills Chihuahua, and of course Marley & Me, adapted from the book which godpa enjoyed reading. Looks like puppy Chihuahuas and Labrador Retrievers will soon be tied with pretty ribbons and end up as presents for a loved human. This human is usually a cute innocent child or perhaps some pretty (clueless-about-dogs) adult. I wonder if they'll get sick of us once they learn the hard way that dogs have needs too and we can't be put on sleep mode, patched to fix problems, upgraded to have better behaviours, or even sold to the karang guni man for recycling (as you can see godpa's influenced me with techie lingo).
Godpa's own experience of sharing my life is that dogs do not appreciate in price but they appreciate in value.

So, what new toy am I getting for Christmas?

Rain rain go away 2

Awful weather these days, I can't imagine staying indoors reading the newspapers like humans *YAWN* Probably plants do better and enjoy the coolness to bloom.
With such cool weather, will it create a white Christmas? But then why must Christmas be white? I remember godpa said the Christmas story happened in the Middle East, so does it have snow covered trees there? Godpa showed me a photo of some trees hanging around in a shopping mall. They sure look pretty, too bad I can't see it for myself.
There was another thunder storm last weekend. Thankfully godpa was around like Santa Claus and I sat on his lap wishing for sunny weather.

This afternoon wasn't fantastic either but godpa brought me out for a long walk to post some letters. We walked through a HDB estate and the small parks interspersing the blocks. I was a bit nervous at first but eventually warmed up to the new sights, sounds, and scents. We even found a nice wide area for obedience training (not that I liked the idea of course).

Wet run

Godpa finally brought me out to the dogrun after so long. The Ang Mo Kio area was gloomy and it drizzled on our way there but godpa didn't allow the rain to dampen his resolve. We got there around 6pm, the ground was wet and there was only one other dog. I didn't mind coz I got the whole big section of BPDR to myself. The other dog occupied the adjacent smaller section. Godpa kept throwing one of my toys to see if I would fetch it but I preferred to let him do the chasing and fetch it himself.

Soon it got a bit boring and godpa spoke to the other dog's human companion, a young lady, to try and let me meet up with her dog. Was godpa trying to matchmake me like those human parents?! Hmm, he does look kinda cute; a young Singapore special with some hints of German Shepherd blood in him. I put on my usual airs (yes, it's fear aggression but I'm no easy girl either). Soon I was more comfortable with Beanie, who was a gentleman when it came to showing interest in me. We managed to do only a tiny bit of mutual chasing but godpa was overall happy that I had this experience. He noticed I could now run like the wind again, perhaps less fur meant I'm more aerodynamic?

Since it was wet and dirty, there were no photos of this excursion :( So I'm only showing what godpa ate for lunch and what I ate for treats! He told me the lor mee with much toppings came from a food centre on Ang Mo Kio Ave 10. And for me, I got to try yummy semi-moist lamb jerky.

Big Day

Yesterday was some kind of big day for godpa. He's a bit mysterious but says it's a celebration of love, though he didn't say what kind of love. One thing for sure, humans always celebrate with good food, and this was no exception.

There was some Japanese East-West fusion dinner that godpa said was passable but perhaps not so unique in taste and only average in service.

The best stuff came later in the form of desserts from another joint that blended art, good taste, and good service.

Godpa had thought of bringing me to Earth Cafe to share in the celebration too but apparently Tuesday was the cafe's day off *shucks*

Now I only hope the weather stays dry coz my regular walk schedule has gone a bit haywire when it rains in the early mornings and afternoons. I actually peed in the house one morning just before being let out to relieve myself *sheesh*

The next nearest love celebration will be on 25 December. Apparently it's some human's birthday.

I am + HIV!

I am positively Hound In Vogue because I just got my grooming done on Sunday!

I'm not trying to be funny about HIV as I've learnt from godpa that it's something humans get uptight about when a fellow human gets infected. An HIV+ person becomes a pariah just like how some dogs are treated, a lower class of living beings. I wonder if anyone would still love me if I'm SIV+ (Simian Immunodeficiency Virus)? I know I'll love my human companions no matter what.

Here's me in the car before getting to the groomer's place. It was a long wait there before godpa came to pick me up 5 hours later.

By then it was night time and everyone else in the shop was having dinner. Godpa didn't prepare any food for me. Fortunately the groomer gave me an edible bone treat.

Don't I look enchanting with the air of a sophisticated lady. My previous cut in August was more cutesy like a little innocent girl.

With the new cut, godpa need not worry too much that I'm being overfed by his parents. In fact he thinks I look anorexic like those lithe runway models.

A touch of zen

Godpa tells me things in the human world seem to change more abruptly. Never-ending improvements, enhancements, upgrades, but to what end?

Look at the birds in the sky, they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns

Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin.

Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?

Lead a dog's life :)

Good looking stuff

Godpa says he's going to be home late most of this week. Fortunately it's not entirely work related. Godpa had taken time off yesterday and we were hoping for good weather to visit the dogrun. Predictably it rained in the afternoon :( Though it cleared up in the east, godpa had by then left me at home and went off to the city. What's so interesting about the concrete jungle? I guess humans are dazzled by visual stuff, various shapes that are smooth, slick, sparkling, bright, or colourful. For dogs like me, scents and sounds are more interesting. Back to visuals, godpa told me he's booked my grooming appointment for next Tuesday. I'm going to get back my cute round face :)

All Creatures Great and Small

Some humans celebrate All Souls' Day today, so maybe there should be an All Creatures' Day too? Everyone went out this morning to the columbarium, leaving me to watch the house. And of all things, a thunder storm came rolling in! While godpa enjoyed his Taiwan Zha Jiang Mian () from the Kopitiam foodcourt in Vivocity, I was anxiously waiting for his return :|

Sometimes I'm anxious, and sometimes I'm not ... at the other end of the spectrum I can be rather dominating.
From the video, some humans may think I'm a horny bitch or have some gender identity problem, but really that's not possible coz I've been spayed and doggy behaviours cannot be judged using human labels.
