Foodie

I love to have things in my mouth, especially the edible type :) Godpa caught me staring into the kitchen where dinner was being laid out. Godpa's mum had earlier called everyone to dinner so I happily ran to the door. Nobody told me I was not invited :(
Godpa wanted to show me the prata he ate some days ago at Ah Mei Cafe in Sun Plaza. It was quite nice he says, though the curry wasn't great. Godpa's parents took the briyani, which was ok but not as great in comparison to the famous one at Northpoint foodcourt. The Northpoint one uses very good bismati rice and they're generous with the portions. Wish I could try it someday, maybe godpa can "dapao" for me :)

3 Months!

I have been with godpa for 3 months since adoption. And as promised I got a visit to the dogrun today. Yep, I barked all the way there in the car and left my paw prints all over the window, but godpa was so patient. It was a sunny morning at Bishan park with many breeds appearing, let me see if I remember: Poodle, Chihuahua, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Golden Retriever, Husky, Yorkshire Terrier, Border Collie, Pomeranian, West Highland Terrier, some special crosses like me, and even an Italian Greyhound. I think there were 4 Huskies running about today. The Greyhound was a pretty slim but horny male who kept pestering me so I gave him my usual snarl and snap telling him to go get neutered :)

Here are more of my beauty shots. My portraits with godpa and Uncle Leon (I think godpa took a better photo of me)
And others taken at Uncle Leon's place.

Small boy

I'm letting godpa borrow my blog a while since he promised to bring me to dogrun tomorrow :)
He went to the Singapore Toy & Comic Convention. He's still such a small boy at heart just like me, a small girl at heart. These toys are rather expensive, can buy me lots of meat and treats!

Godpa's favourite is Superman, maybe because he's a dog lover and had Krypto the Superdog :) And lastly a picture of me since it's my blog.

Rope play II

Godpa's been busy lately, and he hasn't brought me out in the car for some time. He says he may bring me for a short ride first to test whether I still bark. So it's been strolls in the estate everyday *YAWN*

And here's another video of me and my favourite rope. It's not really the rope that I like but how godpa entices me by making it so exciting. Once he walks away, I don't really care about the rope anymore.

Nine Ingredients for optimum health & growth

Food and play and socialize,
Quiet time and exercise,
Give your dog a job to do
And lots of rest when day is through.
Train with love, respect, and care,
And see your vet throughout the year.

- from "The Dog Whisperer" by Paul Owens & Norma Eckroate

BTW, I weigh 3.7kg now :)

Wet weather

The weather has not been great these days. On Sunday morning godpa planned to sleep in late and he even made sure I cleared my bowels and bladder the night before. Around 4am, there was lightning and a loud clap of thunder, and so I shook godpa up to sayang me :) He tried to calm me down with my rope toy and playing Qi Yu's CD album. It only worked a while, then godpa went to sleep on the sofa so that I'll feel safer being closer to him. He doesn't allow me on his bed even though it's a huge bed.

The picture above has nothing to do with me, just godpa playing with his camera phone, though I'd like to try that ice kachang some day :)

Today godpa's dad bathed me. Do I have a nice wet look? Both of them trimmed my fur right after I got blown dry. I don't like my beautiful locks to be cut! I protested but in the end got trimmed around my belly, chin, and ears.

Bad weather

Godpa's ears were ringing last nite after driving me to Uncle Leon's house for a visit. I barked at everything in sight on the trip there and back. I also barked the day before when he tried taking me to Bishan dogrun. We didn't get to the dogrun coz weather bad and partly because of my barking. He didn't give up but drove to Sembawang Park instead. I got to see policemen stationed in a small tent there and also police car and military jeep patrolling the park. I hope they weren't looking for little terrors like me.

It's good that Godpa is more understanding after reading some books. He thinks my barking might be linked to the bad weather and occasional flashes of lightning (heat lightning). I'm my cute quiet self once I feel secure in the house. There was lightning this morning too and I frantically woke godpa up from bed :)

Homely girl

I'm a homely kinda girl, love my meals and recently found a new pastime chewing rope toy. Godpa helped put me on "film" using his new gadget.

Pardon the bad but romantic lighting as I chow down my meal (not very lady like) and chew lovingly on my minty tasting rope. Godpa has been trying to get me to play fetch, so far I'm quite cool about fetching but I wanna keep the rope for myself rather than hand it back to godpa.

Animal Lovers

Godpa didn't bring me out to the dogrun yesterday but I'm fine with it coz he and Uncle Leon went to support the B.R.A (Bank of Rice for Animal Lovers League) event at U Petgamart. They bought some scented incense sticks at the flea mart, and a 15kg bag of Canine Caviar Chicken & Pearl Millet. The kibble sounds tasty but it wasn't meant for me. Imagine 15kg can last me a whole year! They donated it to the ALL folks there who told them that the shelter dogs mainly feed on rice and kibbles. I hope the dogs there get healthy meals just like me.

Godpa also got me a new shampoo that's milder and suited for general use. It's the Groomer's Blend Herbal Extract that a nice chap at the mart recommended. He says it is better for dogs in our hot humid climate as it's rather refreshing. I'll be using the flea and tick shampoo about once a month instead coz it dries up my coat and makes it thin.

Godpa is getting a bit extravagant, he just got a new Sony Ericsson K850i. I think he wants the convenience to take more pictures of me without lugging round a bulky DSLR, or maybe it's just the GSS shopping bug. He's started pointing that device at me this morning!

Run Nikki Run

I've not pooped for a day and godpa is starting to worry. Let's hope I give a good one this evening :) Anyway, godpa took time off and surprised me with a trip to Bishan dogrun yesterday. Great sunshine and not many dogs came but I had a great time running free like the wind. I think the soundtrack of Born Free suits me well :)

Born free, as free as the wind blows
As free as the grass grows
Born free to follow your heart

Live free and beauty surrounds you
The world still astounds you
Each time you look at a star

Stay free, where no walls divide you
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide

Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're born free

(Stay free, where no walls divide you)
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide

Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're born free

Godpa's post in a doggy forum...

This is what godpa says of adopting me, so sweet.

After adopting Nikki, I've learnt

1) She can be as affectionate as a cat. She sits at my feet whenever I'm home. When there's lightning or thunder she'll look for comfort huggy.gif

2) Accept dogs as they are, not all can be "obedience trained", not all are sociable with their own kind. Mine has certain fears and anxieties which I'm still trying to understand and help her with cool.gif

3) I can now distinguish between her stance for peeing and pooping rolleyes.gif

4) She is a small dog with a zest for running. She darts around so fast in the park I should rename her Flash
tongue2.gif

5) She loves standing on her hind legs and we sometimes dance together doing the dog-trot
blush.gif

6) I now have 2 alarm clocks to wake me in the morning. She's usually earlier than my preset wake-up time
yawn.gif

7) She will "tell" me she has a problem like upset tummy by pacing around in the house
clapping.gif

8) That I have no regrets adopting an adult dog

The green thing

Incredible Hulk? Nah, I vomited some green stuff this morning soon after godpa left for work. I left some gooey puke in his bedroom, luckily godpa's mum didn't grumble much. Actually I think I threw up the whole morning meal :( Godpa thinks it's due to some spoilt veg. So he gave me some rice again mixed with beef to soothe my tummy at night.

Godpa says got doggy movie in June, he not sure whether wanna go yet. Anyway dogs not welcomed into cinemas, so sad, I can't watch. Hmm, actually if I watch maybe feel even more sad coz it's a tear jerker movie....the doggy dies in the story. I encourage those who wanna support doggy charities like ASD to get special limited preview tickets from http://www.asdsingapore.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1802&Itemid=1. And here's the trailer in Japanese http://www.nipponcinema.com/trailers/inu_to_watashi_no_10_no_yakusoku/
*sob* Here are the 10 Promises:
1: 請與我耐心地交往。

8: 你每天上學,有很多朋友。可是我只有你。
9: 我能生活僅僅十年左右,所以請你多一點與我在一起。

Paparazzi

Gosh, I came back one evening from a walk and was caught on camera! Luckily it's just godpa who surprised me. I didn't look my best, being disheveled after a walk in the estate with godpa's dad. Notice how I have to get my feet cleaned before entering the house, it's troublesome but it's for my own hygiene so I don't mind.

Expressions

No, I'm not advertising for that Expressions :) unless they have doggy spas. Godpa's been asked to showcase more of me and it's tough for him coz I don't sit still or smile into the lens when he points that big DSLR at me. Frankly I think I need another round of trimming. This morning godpa just realized that his dad cut off my beard yesterday! He said girls don't need a beard *duh* but I'm a schnauzer...er...yorkie...er... chihuahua...oops.

Here are a few shots of me relaxing under the soft glow of the warm morning sun. Don't I look cute? Especially when I cock my head in a curious pose. Godpa was making some funny noises and whistling to attract my attention. Maybe he should have asked me to say "bone" (cheese might work too but I haven't tasted it before) The last pix shows my sexy leg fur, which was trimmed last Sunday and needs alot more work!

Fashion cut

Yesterday godpa and Uncle Leon gave me a fur cut, well they actually just worked on the leg fur and some stray body fur. They didn't manage to trim my paw and face fur coz I'm still ticklish to the idea. They used the Philips QG3080 which they specially bought for me, it's a handy rechargeable clipper which is much more worthwhile then those branded ones for doggies. Costs S$99.90 from Courts Tampines. It was a tiring thing for them trying to coax me to get cut, I think they may give up and look for a groomer :) Anyway the clipper has 6 functions and godpa says can always use to cut human hair.

We went back to PMDR again on Sunday morning, and I got to meet that husky who was running the obstacle course last week. Well, we didn't actually meet coz I just barged into his training as he ran the course. At one point he had to jump over me to avoid crashing into me while coming down a ramp. I think his owner found me cute but irritating :P

We also met a gang of 4 shih tzus who were barkish at every dog that came into their path. I saw them cowering when scolded every now and then by a man who seemed to be head of the human household. I had my own heated quarrel with them too coz godpa knew I could handle it on my own. Still I pity them coz they seemed to be fearful of their owner.

Before we left PMDR, a cute puppy chihuahua came in carried by an uncle. Closely tagging behind was a young boy about 7yrs old, probably his son. The boy asked to carry the wawa which seemed so sweet. Suddenly he just threw her to the floor! I think godpa's heart dropped to the floor too. What was the boy thinking in his mind? A wawa is so frail, furthermore it's a pup. The uncle just gave him a quick reprimand and left the dogrun as they seemed to be passing through the run as a shortcut to their car. I do hope the dog was not bought for the boy's pleasure.

Anyway, not to have Monday blues, godpa found this nice Peanuts strip to lighten the mood.
