To have and to hold

Dogs are great pals, I know that for sure coz I'm never far from godpa (usually by his feet).

However, not all humans are great pals to their pets. Godpa and me frequently bump into this white JRT (my arch nemesis) who's on a retractable leash walked by a maid (we think). She has no control over the dog and often busy chatting on the phone in a foreign tongue. She probably misses home and takes the opportunity for catching up with friends and relatives. I wonder where's the poor dog's owner.

An accident of out of control dogs happened again recently. I hope the dogs and humans are alright. It seems from godpa's observation that most of these dogs stay on landed properties with gates left opened and are left free to roam. It happened to us too while we were on a walk around an estate with landed properties. Fortunately only a curious golden retriever came running out to greet us. I think godpa will bring along a big umbrella for protecting me the next time we walk through such estates.

So much for serious stuff. On a lighter note, I'm glad I have two older but gentler brothers. Godpa thinks they're too fragile for me to play. They're really cute and look fun to bi..

Speaking of food, godpa patronised that pasta stall again and tried out some spinach filled stuff (yucks!)

New year, new me

I thought godpa would be lazing around the house today since he woke up so late in the morning. It turned out to be an afternoon of fun at the dogrun.

We got there while it was still drizzling but it soon stopped and many more dogs came. It didn't take me long to get warmed up this time round so godpa and Uncle Leon were pleased to see me taking bold steps to socialize on my own. It helps when other dogs take initiative to approach me. There was a young Miniature Schnauzer that I liked to follow around but somehow her human companion was a lot less confident than her dog, so I restrained from playing with her. A big Airedale Terrier was rather pleased to see me and we got along quite well.

Godpa's thinking of bringing me this Saturday to attend an event called Play for Paws where there'll be some performances and a flea market. I hope it'll be another fun day. He tells me Dodo might be there too as he bumped into her family after dinner just now.

The earth has spun an orbit round the sun

In short, it's a new year for all creatures great and small living on this planet. For me, it also means over 9 months being together with godpa. That's a lot of time in doggy life! How I've aged.

Joy seems pervasive during this festive period and it's a good thing to be joyful but godpa is acutely aware of things overlooked, such as a poor puppy in a pet shop with some eye problem. Uncle Leon says it looks like some kind of cataract. The advert said she was on "offer" while other dogs weren't. Some days later she was shifted to a lower display area. Godpa still wonders where pet shop animals disappear to when they're unsold and grow out of puppyhood. How come no one sells adult dogs? Humans always fall for sweet young things, fortunately I'm still sweet though no longer young.

Since it's still festive, godpa wanted to share about food (again). He told me he ate this Indonesian nasi rames (known locally as nasi campur) that made him perspire under cold airconditioning. He says it's "sedap". It's from Food Republic at Vivocity.
